Fishing & Hunting in the Lowcountry
The phrase "a sportsman's paradise" is over-used by many destinations wanting to lure' fishermen (pun intended). However, in the South Carolina Lowcountry, how about 19 marinas, and 28 charter fishing services? Got your own boat? How about 31 boat ramps in both fresh and salt water, 6 fishing piers and 12 artificial reefs? We offer year-round fishing for fresh water, large mouth, red-breast, and catfish. The salt-water species vary from trout, redfish and flounder inshore, to marlin, dolphin, king mackerel, snapper, grouper and much more offshore. Choose from a half dozen rivers, a beautiful little lake, or a great big ocean. Like shell fish? Catch your own shrimp and crabs, or dig clams and harvest oysters.
Are you a hunter? The Lowcountry has the longest white-tail deer season in the U.S. (August through December). 6 professional hunting lodges or plantations are available to put you on your quarry. In addition, there are seasons for ducks, quail, doves, wild boar and turkeys. Some of our hunting plantations have sporting clays courses, on-site lodging and hearty meals.
