33rd Annual All Saints Garden Tour
2020 Garden Tour on Hold. Final Decision on 4-15-2020
The 33rd Annual All Saints Garden Tour on Saturday, May 16, 2020, has something for everyone.
Gardens of various sizes; located on the water or in wooded areas; prepared by professional landscapers while others were lovingly created by the owners; newly created or nurtured for many years; and stunning views! This self-guided tour includes six distinctive gardens, all of which are new to the Tour, located in six different gated Plantations on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton. Your $35 ticket includes the Tour, lunch at All Saints Episcopal Church, a boutique featuring local artisans, a bake sale, Master Gardeners to answer questions, and a display of landscape items offered by Taylors Quality Landscape Supply & Nursery. Last year the tickets sold out, so get them early! Tickets are available now on line at allsaintsgardentour.com and will be available at the end of March at garden centers and other businesses in Hilton Head and Bluffton.
Each garden is unique! Due to recent storms, many of the gardens have faced challenges because of changes in the garden’s environment. For the first time in over thirty years, a garden on a canal in Wexford is featured on the Tour and includes a pontoon boat ride offering views of many distinctive gardens along the canal. A Bluffton garden has incorporated year round color in the front of the home while native dune grasses and palmettoes line the riverbank in the back. Another Bluffton Garden with an expansive marsh view holds a surprise behind the home – a 450-year-old Angel Oak that creates a sanctuary for the owners.
A garden entirely maintained by the owners has evolved as a continuous work in progress and reflects their travels and whimsical natures resulting in a unique, eclectic, quirky and eccentric “not to be missed” garden. Other do-it-yourself gardeners have created a charming, relaxing environment installing flagstone and paver paths, patios, fences, raised beds, fountains, pots, benches, a large pergola, all enhanced by a shimmering lagoon view of herons, ducks, turtles and, of course, alligators. Low country surroundings inspired a newly renovated landscape with four design styles including an expansive walkway with a fountain, sunny and shade tropical elements, a formal Charleston Garden and a perennial flower cutting garden.
All net proceeds from the Tour are donated to local charities that deal with the issues of hunger, homelessness, aging, or literacy. Over the years, more than $500,000 has been given to local charities from this annual event bringing validation to our logo “Through the Beauty of a Garden ….. A Gift to the Community”. All who attend the 2020 Garden Tour add to this legacy.
