Keystone Species of the Salt Marsh

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Christopher Kehrer on December 15 at 2 pm.  to explain how salt marshes play a critical role in the health of our oceans and are nursing grounds for 75% of our commercial fish.  During this presentation, you will learn who are the keystone species that made the salt marsh so productive.  How and why the salt marsh will not function without them, and why we must do all that we can to protect them.
Kehrer is the Naturalist and Education Coordinator at he Port Royal Sound Foundation.  He was raised in the lowcountry and earned his Bachelor’s in Biology at USCB which focused on coastal ecology.
Cost is $7 per person and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223.  The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
