“Above and Beyond” – an exceptional collection of abstract artworks

The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island will host this exhibition from March 1 through April 30.  The opening reception will be held on March 12 from 5-7 pm and is open to the public.  The artists will be on hand Thursdays between noon and 2 pm to discuss their work.  Art Beyond Tradition Group, whose first exhibit was in 2006, continues its biennial commitment to exhibit fine local abstract work in an ongoing effort to showcase varying examples of the many different faces of abstraction.
Founders Irene Williamson and Jo Dye sought to shed light on this often-intimidating art form. It was hoped that by presenting an all-abstract show, one might come to appreciate and understand the beauty of art’s formal elements: line, color and form. With each artist using these elements in their own unique way, the results are as varying as the artists themselves.
This year artists include:  Earline Allen, Joanna Chalson, Cindy Chiappetta, Margaret Crawford, John Crum, Jo Dye, Vickie Jourdan, Mark Larkin, Sharon Collings Licata, Mary Sullivan, Donna Varner, Arla Wible and Irene Williamson.
They each invite you step into their magic world and let their work sweep you up into their imagination.
The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9 – 4:30 pm and Sunday from 11-3 pm.
