‘Sword and Flame’ presents the arms and armor of the men who created the Spanish Empire. It dispels the myths associated with the conquistadors while providing an entertaining and instructive commentary on what the tools of conquest really looked — and felt — like. An assortment of replica weapons and accouterments will be available to see and to handle at the end of the talk. Plate, mail and padded armor, helmets, cutting weapons, spears and polearms, and projectile weapons will all be discussed by a living historian who has worn and used them for forty years.
