Program Descriptions:
Cast Netting in the Lowcountry: Come on down to the Environmental Learning Center, to learn
about the most popular outdoor recreational activities in the Lowcountry, cast netting! Join a naturalist
to learn multiple methods to this activity. From shrimp to squid, you never know what you will get!
Free with Park Admission. (45min)
Gators of the Lowcountry: Learn more about South Carolina’s largest reptiles and these modernday dinosaurs during this educational program. Also get an up-close look at our resident gator,
Marsh!! Free with Park Admission (30 mins)
Life in the Shallows: Experience our coastal critters up close! Come interact with our touch tank
animals while being guided by an interpreter. Free with Park Admission. (30 mins)
Ravenous Reptiles: Come watch a special feeding of some of our reptile friends! $5 per person. (30
mins)
Sea Turtle Nest Inventories: Come join us and learn what happens after sea turtle nests hatch!
Free with Park Admission. (2 hours)
Tie-Dye! Come join the ELC staff as we teach you how to create your own tie-dye shirt! We’ll show
you a variety of designs to choose from. Make sure to bring your own white cotton t-shirt or
pillowcase, or better yet, purchase an Edisto Beach State Park shirt from us! Pre-registration
required. $10 per shirt or purchase one of ours for $15. For a donation of $7, you can tie dye a
tote bag! Limit 8. (45 min)
Turtle Talk: Can you hold your breath for five hours? How tall do you measure up to a Leatherback
Sea Turtle? Come discover the incredible world of South Carolina’s turtles – from terrapins to land
turtles to sea turtles! Some live turtles (no live sea turtles) will be on hand! Free with Park
Admission. (45 min)
What’s on the Menu? Not our animals! Join us as we feed our aquarium animals. Free with Park
Admission. (30 mins)
