The 35th Annual Kiwanis Chili Cookoff

Coinciding With Jeep Island Exhibition

The Kiwanis club’s 35th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be held at historic and beautiful Honey Horn on Hilton Head Island.

The Kiwanis Clubs of Hilton Head Island will host the 35th Annual Chili Cookoff at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2019, rain or shine and all-you-can-eat chili! This year’s event will focus on local chili cooks in the professional and amateur category with separate awards for competitors in the Non-Profit group. In addition, a popular local band will be providing entertainment. Also, the Jeep Island Event will be in process at Honey Horn simultaneously and ticket holders can attend both events. In total, the Club expects 20-25 restaurants and amateurs alike including last year’s winners One Hot Mama’s, The Sonesta, The Cypress of Hilton Head, Aunt Chilada’s, Tide Pointe and Reilley’s in the Professional category. Amateur winners included Boys and Girls Club, Hilton Head Firefighters, The Wolf Pack, and Boy Scouts Troop 245. The Kiwanis Club expects full participation in one of the most popular events in the Southeast as advertised in Southern Living magazine.
Ticketing has changed for this year as there will be a $5 entry fee and $1 for each chili tasting ticket. Tickets will be available in advance for $5 at several Island locations including The Coastal Discovery Museum, Burke’s Pharmacy, Reilley’s South, Honey Baked Ham (Bluffton), Bluffton Pharmacy, and any Kiwanis member. In addition, several corporate sponsorship packages are available in the Gold, Silver and Bronze categories which come with tickets and beverages.
Proceeds from the event benefit local Kiwanis children’s organizations such as Boys and Girls Club, Island Rec Center, The Sandbox, Marine Corps Scholarship Fund, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts, Children’s Center, Junior ROTC HHI and Bluffton, and Gregory’s Playground. Beer, wine, soda, hot dogs and ice cream will also be available for purchase and parking is Free.
