Beaufort Before Britain: An Introduction to the Santa Elena Story

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Christopher Allen on November 4 at 2 pm for this lecture as part of our Fall lecture series.  The presentation provides an overview of Beaufort’s role in America’s little known 16th Century history filling in the gap after 1492 Columbus and before 1607 Jamestown.  Almost 100 years before the Mayflower landed on Plymouth Rock, Europeans visited today’s Beaufort County.  The presenter, Christopher Allen is a retired US Army Special Forces Colonel.  He last returned from Afghanistan in 2017.  Long before retirement, he committed to making Beaufort County his home and has been consumed by our county’s unique history ever since. Reservations for this program are available in person for $7 or by virtual per household for $5. Please contact 843-689-6767 ext. 223 or  https://www.coastaldiscovery.org/home/discover-and-learn/discovery-lecture-series/
The details of the Santa Elena story are on display at the Coastal Discovery Museum through December 7 in the gallery.  Hours are 9-4 Monday through Saturday and 11-3 on Sunday.  The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
