Development on Barrier Islands
The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Jessie White on January 26 at 2 pm. as part of the
Discovery Lecture series. Join White, the Director of the Coastal Conservation League’s South
Carolina Coast Office, for a discussion on the risks associated with developing on one of our
most fragile and dynamic landforms; barrier islands. Topics will include plans for development
on Bay Point Island, the environmental resources at stake, and how local governments can
protect their citizens from unwise decisions using robust comprehensive planning and land use
policies.
The cost is $7, and reservations may be made by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. The museum
is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
