HL Hunley Program at Coastal Discovery Museum
On February 5 at 2 pm the Coastal Discovery Museum will host Steve Quick as he presents HL Hunley. HL Hunley – Not named until after the tragic death on board of its benefactor the HL Hunley went on to be the first successful submarine attack in history. It’s first was unfortunately also it’s last. Lost until it’s discovery in a watery grave off South Carolina in 1996, it has been under the microscope since it was raised. It has stubbornly clung to many of its secrets for 18 years.
Since 2000 historian Steve Quick has told the story across the upper Midwest to schools, librarians, museums, round tables and historical events. Relocating to South Carolina he now brings this one of a kind story home. Part history, part technology, part mystery, there is something in this compelling story for everyone.
Cost is $7 per person and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext 223. The Museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
