The Natural Communities of the Longleaf Ecosystem
The Coastal Discovery Museum on Hilton Head Island will host Lisa Lord on December 1, 2021, at 2 pm. for this program on the Longleaf Pine Ecosystem, which once was the dominant habitat in the southeastern United States.
Covering more than 90 million acres extending from Virginia to Texas, today less than 5% of its historic range remains intact. Lisa Lord is the Director of Conservation Programs for the Longleaf Alliance and will discuss the natural communities of the longleaf pine ecosystem. Each of the natural communities holds unique diversity of plant and wildlife with intricated relationships.
The cost is $7 per person and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
