The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Carlos Chacon on March 14 at 3 pm for a program on Lowcountry Vultures. An informational presentation on the natural history of vultures will be followed by a walk to the open fields at the museum, where a carcass will be set up to attract vultures. Spotting scopes will be available for participants to see up close vultures at work. Capable of cleaning a full grown deer carcass in a few hours, vultures are of great value to nature.
Chacon is the Manager of Natural History at the Museum and has been on staff since 2005. Cost of the program is $7 per person and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. The Museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
