The Coastal Discovery Museum will host this program on December 16 at 2 pm. Savannah National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is a sanctuary for approximately 22 species of migratory waterfowl that winter in coastal South Carolina. Three-thousand acres of former plantation rice fields are now actively managed by a series of water control structures, effectively serving as impoundments to provide feeding areas and sanctuary for waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, and other wildlife. Refuge Manager Russ Webb will be the speaker and has enjoyed his 29 years managing coastal resources.
Cost is $7 per person and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223. The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
