The Story of Santa Elena

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Rich Thomas for his presentation on May 3 at 2 pm.  The Story of Santa Elena – the first enduring European colony on North American shores and the first capital city in North America.   the Spanish colony of Santa Elena was founded 40 years after the initial Spanish attempt at settlement, lasted for 21 years until disbanded by royal order, and pre-dated the first lasting English colony in North America by over 40 years.  It was the first European capital in the New World north of Mexico.
This program will be in person and for virtual viewing.  The cost is $7 per person for in person and $5 for virtual viewing and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223.
The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
