Event Details

What is happening to our Bees?

The Coastal Discovery Museum will host David Arnal on March 31 at 2 pm. to focus on the two most commonly asked questions by the non-beekeeper #1 What is happening to the bees? And #2 What can I do to help the bees?  We will attempt to answer these questions through the lens of science with a particular focus on Bee Biology and the Natural History of the Honey Bee, including its introduction into North America right here in Beaufort County South Carolina at the Spanish settlement of Santa Elena in 1564.
Arnal is a local bee keeper with more than 50 colonies under his care in the lowcountry.  He keeps eight active colonies at the Coastal Discovery Museum and his honey is available for sale here.
Cost is $7 for in-person and $5 for virtual viewing and reservations are required by calling 843-689-6767 ext. 223.  The museum is located at 70 Honey Horn Drive on Hilton Head Island.
