Our flexibly structured Home School Days are designed for families to learn together while exploring the museum. We will have three different ongoing activity stations in addition to the exhibits, which can all be done at your own pace. Perfect for ages 6-14. Allow about an hour and a half to see and do everything.
Museum: Our exhibit, Santa Elena: America’s Untold Story, tells the story of the 16th Century Spanish town of Santa Elena that was located on Parris Island, South Carolina from 1566-1587. Learn what historians and archaeologists have uncovered about the town and its inhabitants.

Camp Dig it: Explore the world of archaeology by excavating reproduction artifacts using the same methods and techniques that a real archaeologist would. See what you can find out about those who lived at Santa Elena.

Meet a settler from Santa Elena: Learn about the history of the town of Santa Elena from the accounts of someone who was there.
Cultures and Conflicts: Hear about the interactions that took place between the Native Americans and the Spanish. See and touch reproduction artifacts that represent what the Spanish and Native Americans used and traded for.
