Tracing Your Gullah Geechee Roots! Join the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission and the Center for Family History at the International African-American Museum for a FREE genealogy workshop that will help connect you to your Gullah Geechee ancestors in the Corridor — and the communities where they lived. You’ll learn how to find more of your Gullah Geechee family members and why understanding aspects of Gullah Geechee culture such as kinship-based living patterns and other customs, traditions and beliefs – some retained from their West African origins — can help to inform your research and deepen your understanding of your family’s history in the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor. You will also be introduced to the many unique resources that the Beaufort County library has on local Gullah Geechee families, history and culture. 1-3 p.m. St. Helena Branch Library, 6355 Jonathan Francis Senior Rd. To register, send an e-mail to info@gullahgeehceecorridor.org.
