Migratory Ducks at Savannah Wildlife Refuge
The Coastal Discovery Museum will host Russ Webb for this virtual program on March 24 at 2 pm. Webb is the Refuge Manager for Savannah, Pinckney Island, Tybee, and Wassaw NWRs and has thoroughly enjoyed his 29 years managing coastal resources. The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge is a sanctuary for approximately 22 species of migratory waterfowl that winter in coastal South Carolina. Three-thousand acres of former plantation rice fields are now actively managed by a series of water control structures, effectively serving as impoundments to provide feeding areas and sanctuary for waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, and other wildlife.
