Tracing your Irish and Scots Irish ancestors can be exhausting and frustrating but the ‘hunt’ can lead to exciting discoveries along the way. We will cover topics such as: land divisions and the importance of discovering your ancestor’s “townland”; the 1901 & 1911 census, 19th century fragments and pre-1800 census substitutes; Griffith’s Valuation and tithe applotment books; the Ulster Plantation; where and how to access church, civil and workhouse records; on-line records, websites and the resources available in Ireland at PRONI and the National Archives of Ireland. We will end with shared stories and knowledge/insights gained from your research. Come join us and celebrate your Irish heritage!
