Artistic Director Mary Woodmansee Green will lead the 40 members of the Chorale, accompanist Gerald Anderson and professional instrumentalists, in pieces with soloists, mixed chorus, men’s and women’s ensembles. The Chorale will be joined by soprano Laura Sutton Floyd, mezzo Sarah Hancock, tenor Jonathan Murphy and baritone Kyle Hancock.
Favorites from the world of opera – Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Mascagni and Wagner – will be sung in English and range from the sparkling Drinking Song from La Traviata to the magnificent Easter Hymn from Cavalleria rusticana. The soloists will perform the famous Quartet from Rigoletto and Mozart’s La ci darem la mano from Don Giovanni.
The world of operetta will be represented by Vienna’s Franz Lehár, France’s Jacques Offenbach and Great Britain’s Gilbert & Sullivan with excerpts from The Merry Widow, Orpheus in the Underworld and HMS Pinafore.
Finally, the timeless music of Broadway features hits from Les Misérable, The Fantasticks, and Guys and Dolls, as well as other musical treasures by Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Meredith Willson.
