This Tuesday, March 28th, Historic Port Royal Foundation and the Town of Port Royal will host a lecture beginning at 6:00 pm at Town Hall.
Noted historian Dr. Eric Plaag, will present “The First Day They Ever had a Country: Port Royal as the Cradle of Reconstruction”. Dr. Plaag’s talk is based on his research regarding Reconstruction activities which occurred within the boundaries of current day Port Royal.
Dr. Plaag’s work was commissioned by Historic Port Royal Foundation as part of the ongoing Reconstruction activities regarding the National Monument. Previously, he had written the nominating petitions for The Union Church and Port Royal Elementary School for inclusion to the NPS National Register of Historic Places.
The lecture is free and open to the public so please plan on attending this informative talk.
