Francis Marion is considered a key figure of the Revolutionary War in South Carolina. Leading guerrillas in several victories against British and Britain-allied Colonists, he was coined the “Swamp Fox.” In honor of his 288th birthday, Charles Baxley will talk about the legacy of Francis Marion at the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage. Baxley is a 1974 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in political science and a 1976 doctorate in law. He is a general practice lawyer and lives in Lugoff, South Carolina, where he has practiced law in the firm of Baxley, Pratt & Wells, P.A. for forty-two (42) years.
