Come join us for a conversation with Joe Hamilton on May 29th 4:00pm at the South Carolina Artisan Center to learn of the good fortune and generosity of the present owner of the neighboring plantation, and divine intervention aiding Joe in his research to arrive at this place in his life; SS HAMILTON FARMS, LLC.
Joe Hamilton, Colleton County native, retired Department of Defense employee, veteran, family man, landowner, District Tree Farmer of the Year, founder and president of SS Hamilton Farms. Joe has accomplished a feat in three years which normally take several years or a lifetime; he successfully navigated the complex hurdles of owning heirs’ property, cleared the title and developed a successful enterprise, a Certified Tree Farm.
During the upcoming Colleton Ag and Art tour, May 29-30, 2021, Mr. Hamilton will be giving a presentation of his struggles to trace property his family acquired at the end of the Civil War; to show land loss, and the role of the Sustainable Forestry for African American Land Retention (SFLR) program which aided him in designing and creating a legacy for two people in his life, Steve and Sallie Hamilton.
