Warmed by Southern breezes and shaded by live oaks and stately palms, this area offers miles of pristine white-sand beaches, championship golf and hundreds of shops and restaurants.

Activities include eco-tours featuring hiking, dolphin watching, canoeing and kayaking, fresh and salt water fishing, as well as theaters, museums and art galleries, African-American Gullah, and garden tours, bird watching in pristine habitats and many custom-designed programs.

You will find our communities internationally famous, featuring Hilton Head Island, a true world-class destination and Beaufort with its glimpses of the Lowcountry life and history. Cities like Walterboro, home to the South Carolina Artisans Center, Port Royal with its estuarium and Parris Island Marine Recruit Depot offer intriguing sites to visit.

The Lowcountry & Resort Islands Region of South Carolina includes the four, southern-most counties in the state, Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton, which are bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by the Savannah River and the state of Georgia.

Spanish moss drapes the live oak trees that are ubiquitous to the Edisto Island area. Did you know that Edisto gets its name from the native Edistow people?
