2020 Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade-in-Place
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our community is being asked to get creative and light up our Island from a distance. Introducing Hilton Head Island Lantern Parade-in-Place.
Over the course of three nights (Thurs 11/5, Fri 11/6, & Sat 11/7) we are asking our community to put their lanterns on display in their front yards. Chantelle Rytter and her Krewe will then parade her large, spectacle puppets through our neighborhoods for our community to enjoy.
We are still asking our community to create lanterns that represent Hilton Head Island’s unique ecology, history and people. We are just asking you to celebrate the final culmination of our work from the safety of our homes.
There will be a map to register your lantern on if you plan to have a lantern on display. The parade route of the spectacle puppets for each night will be determined by the areas that have the highest level of participation. There will be a puppet tracker map so you will know when the parade is near you!
Created by and featuring artist Chantelle Rytter, the Lantern Parade is a free event and an opportunity for the surrounding community and visitors to celebrate the history, ecology and people of Hilton Head Island.
We want to see our whole community as volumes of light!
Event is sponsored by Beach House Resort and Breeze Trolley
We look forward to hopefully coming together once again on the beach in 2021 when it is safe for everyone.
