Hilton Head ~ Taste of Gullah

Event Details

This signature event had its debut the same year the Arts Center opened, and the festival marks the 25-year history of partnership between the Arts Center and the Gullah community.

Residents and visitors alike revel in an afternoon of Gullah culture! In the spotlight is mouthwatering Gullah cuisine — sizzling ribs and chicken on the grill, seasoned-to-perfection shrimp and grits, delicious okra gumbo, and some Lowcountry favorites — giving you a true taste of Gullah.

The festivities also include Gullah-inspired crafts kits to-go, basket-weaving demonstrations, and, inside the Walter Greer Gallery, the Art League of Hilton Head’s annual exhibit and sale of The Arts Ob We People, one of the largest displays of original work by emerging and acclaimed artists representing the life of Gullah people in the Lowcountry.

This free festival is held as part of the Arts Center’s outreach and educational commitment to our greater community, and all ages are welcome to attend.
